I have some exciting news to share! My episode of The Teaching Journeys Podcast, “The Burnout that Led to a Career in Positive Psychology,” is now available.
In this conversation with Dave Roberts, I share my journey from a high-stress career in school psychology, through burnout and major life changes, to the positive psychology coaching work I do today.
We also talk about my experience of languishing and how positive psychology tools helped me feel more engaged in life and hopeful about what was possible.
Along the way, we explore some of the practices I use in my own life and with coaching clients:
- Recognizing our strengths and meeting self-doubt with self-compassion.
- Practicing authentic gratitude without forcing ourselves to feel positive.
- Using appreciative inquiry to discover what’s working and how we can build on it.
- Building grounded hope by seeing possibilities and identifying small, doable steps forward.
I also share a little about Positive Launch, the small-group program I offer with Jennifer Hanawald for parents navigating their young adults’ transition to college and greater independence.
If you’re moving through a change, questioning what comes next, or simply curious about how positive psychology can support everyday life, I hope you’ll find something in our conversation that resonates.
